Air Conditioning

:S I am not an outside kinda girl, I like night time better, I am allergic to the sun so with that said....there is no air conditioning in the room where I am sewing currently!!!!! YES IT SUCKS...Id rather cuss atm but I am trying to cut back on that. Ugh, all I can say is run an iron, and sew and etc etc....it is so tiring as well besides just overall crappy. There used to be A/C just none atm and it does not seem like there will be any in that room again for who knows how long!!!! :S Yeh so I am drained from the heat already and I have not even done that much!!! Sheesh. Anyhoo enough on that more on what I have been doing.

I have finished the Buttercup Bag. I am glad I made a trial run as I said with bits left over. I like the pattern, very cute and the construction is simple which is also good. But on the next one, I will change a few things among the few things I had already changed on the trial one. First I like doing my handles a certain way so I kept with that. They are sewn in when you sew in the lining. And on the next one I will use fusible interfacing on the bag because i do not like how flimsy it is. Now this has a lot to do with fabric choices I am sure, but I did use just 100 percent cotton so it is too flimsy for my taste. Other than that I think we are good. The only thing I wish I had done that I was going to on this one, is use the solid black on the top bit as opposed to the same fabric as I used for the bag.

I have also started on the doll quilt for DQS7 but I must go to the store and buy some more greens and some embroidery thread so for now it is sitting in a pile waiting to go to the store with me tomorrow.

Also tomorrow we am going with the realtor to look at houses. I am excited!!!! Going oto go make food for now, a bit hungry! I hope to get more sewing done but with an early morning and no AC :( will probably have to wait until tomorrow night when the day has cooled off.

DQS7 :D

I have my swap partner information and can not wait to get started. I have washed the fabric and have it sitting there with a few of the scraps I have chose to mix with it. I am super excited and have drawn out about half the quilt so far on paper. I wish I could go and get started on it but I have work later tonight so meh! But I will have a few days to get started after I get off Monday morning. It is going to be so cute, it is in my head anyway so I hope it relates well to fabric once I am finished. YAY! I am excited. I will try and make it through my days of work dreaming of fairies and butterflies!!! :)

A week of being busy doing nothing :S

It feels as if I have done nothing since getting off work Monday morning. I know I have done a fairly good bit, but since there was family here again and I had two days where I could not get to my sewing machine and I was so itching to, leads me to feel I have not done anything.

However this is what has been getting done!

I have just the lining to sew to the purse outer and the strap for the buttercup bag I am making from Made by Rae. So that will hopefully be done tonight when I wake up.

I have all the rows sewn together of the disappearing nine patch, just waiting to be ironed and then sewn together. I hope to lay it out later and get an overall look at it before I iron the seams so I know which way to iron each one.

I went to the local fabric store because I needed some black thread and magnetic snaps and of course ended up buying more than I needed. :) Here is a little picture.

See as I said it feels as I have done nothing, besides all that fun stuff like cooking, laundry and family time and sleeping. But not enough sewing. And back to work tomorrow night. But I am very thankful it is only 3 12 hours this time around. I was thinking overtime, but I can not imagine they deserve that after the past weekend! :P

In the works are a handmade item for a FQ swap I entered over at Flikr (yup, it seems I am addicted to Flikr, oh well)! That lime green zipper is for that little gift. Also going to try and start a plan for a doll quilt for the DQS7, hopefully it will be one that my partner will like and if not I still plan on making it so it will go somewhere. :) And of course I still have to quilt the Bright Bukeye Beauty. However, I am very apprehensive about it since I have no walking foot anymore, it got lost and I have yet to replace it. Now I have done free motion and I am ok at it, but I have also not done it for a long time. And I was really thinking because of the block design maybe it woud look better with more staright line quilting, so I at this point really have no idea if I should try the free motion and just do a large meandering or large loops, or what? (sigh) I had hoped to get it quilted on these days off but I do not want to do it and it look funky so it may again wait until my next set of days off after I have thought on it some more and I may order a walking foot offline somewhere. Anyadvice would be welcome.

Tiring Tusday and what all got done

Ugh is all I can say because I strained my back pretty good yesterday. I believe it was me basting that quilt on the floor after having already strained it at work with patients. :S SO yeh bad idea to try and baste on the floor. But the quilt is basted, lol. So what all did get done yesterday.

One
we had errands to run so I got to see Melissa and pick up the Avon I ordered and then after that we went and met with a mortgage broker. Which went well, missing a few pieces of paper but that will be taken care of tomorrow and then we should hopefully hear something within in a week. SO hopefully we will be house hunting for our FIRST home soon :) Very exciting.

Two
I got my fabric from Fabric.com. :) New yummies. Oh I also made Jes take me to storage to get some fabric but he only let me bring one bin, such a downer :P

Three
I got all the nine patches cut up into their smaller counterparts to start re-piecing for the disappearing nine patch.

Four
I got the bright buckeye beauty quilt basted. I normally baste a certain way but I was browsing and saw someones idea and thought I would give it a try. Now it is not that it did not work well, I just still prefer my way. I sadly do not remember where I was at but kudos to whom evers blog is was, there was still helpful advice in all I found and I know I bookmarked you.

And to mention it must be one of those days because I burnt my finger while cooking a bit ago :S!!! So now I am off to watch the new Friday the 13th.

Pictures to be posted next time around! :)

Mondays and what we are up to!

Oh work was rough last night, and I was so happy to get home this morning and take a shower and crash. But beyond that :) Here is what I am working on...

Disappearing Nine Patch

Here are the colors I am using, the bottom is a white with pink polka dots, kind of hard to see.

~Sewing the nine patches~

~Little pile to be ironed~

I just recently found this nine patch variation while surfing one day randomly. I really like the look of it. I found it at Ouilts and ATCS and decided to give it a go for a baby quilt. So far we just have the nine patches cut, strip pieced, cut again and sewn and I hope to get back to ironing them here in a bit. Will of course keep you updated.

I also however have a hard time doing just one thing at a time, and I also can not post all the things I am working on but I will share this. I found this purse pattern at Made By Rae and am going to give it a go in some fabrics I have left over, one is the black from the skirt I made for Kayla and the other is a black on grey toile fabric I have had for years! Heres a pic of the two, kinda blurry it looks but I think it is just because I have not ironed the toile yet.

SO that is it for Monday, although now it has rolled over in too Tuesday am :S :P

Back to Work...

Well I return to work tomorrow night for my normal 3 nights of 12's. I hope they go smoothly and we have plenty of coverage. We have had a light load of patients the past 3 weeks so I know now that will change. But all will be ok! :)

I did not get as much as I had hoped done the past few days, I had an appointment for a pelvic ultrasound (yes both kinds :S). Those went well though and the doctor has already called to let me know it all looks well. So we are going to try birth control for a few months to see if that will help with my irregular lady friend. SO it is good to know all is well in the lady land! We also had family up and did some house cleaning and yard work, along with all the nail painting, make up and hair doing I did! :)

But I did get a skirt done for Kayla and she is happy with it. There were a few things I did not like about it but that is always how it seems to go when you are the sewer! At least for me. SO here are a few snap shots. Mind the god hair, fan and doggie (baby) gate. :P

No she does not plan on wearing that shirt, I made her get out of her PJS to take the picture. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and stay safe!!!

Bright Scrap Quilt almost ready for quilting

I used left over fabrics from a triple set of Freddie's House quilts I made a few years back for my nieces for Christmas. The pattern is Buckeye Beauty, courtesy of Marcia Hohn. Here is a picture I took after the top was pieced and the final borders I chose.

Here we are after getting all the border on and using a few of the left over blocks I ended up with (so bad with calculations, I am). I will be using the same blue border fabric for binding, I feel that will make a nice finish. I am still however at this moment unsure how I feel about the finished top to this point. I am not sure I should not have gone with a more traditional border layout and I had some wonky blocks due to sleep deprivation and impatient during cutting, :P.
