Paper pieced primary geese :)

I love this tutorial. I have seen so many awesome quilts made with it on flickr and it has been on my to do/try list. AND aha I am glad I can mark it off now lol. I loved my colors from making my DQS8, so I pulled a few new ones and some I had used and made this lovely little goosie triangle quilt.

I am still deciding on borders. I am hoping to get the borders sewn on and layered with backing and batting before I go out tomorrow to the store, so I can take this with me and my DQS8 to pick threads for quilting.

A pastel New York Beauty

I am not sure why I decided, well mostly because I want this one to hang on my walls and I have had the page bookmarked forever for me to do. I love New York Beautys. I am not however a great paper piecer, but then that is OK and this will make me better, right? Let us hope! SO I have started this and will hopefully have it done by he end of the year lol :)

This is the picture from the magazine.

Here is me at a point going "WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!??".

And a peek at my messy mess back. :)

This is my fist finished pointie part for the block. I am proud I finished it. It just has one boooboo where there is a bit short in the seam allowance but I can live with it and work with it I hope. :)

:))))))

DQS8

I was worried at first about what to make my partner this time around, she likes very simplistic and had some dislikes on types of fabrics and colors, so I was like "O". But I feel have pulled through alright and I love what I have made and wish I had made one for myself! I used some fabrics from an old line of french prints by Doreen Speckmann for Clothworks, Provence, for inspiration. This line is indeed a few yeas old and while trying to remember the name of it I was googling and I guess I never realized or I had forgotten I knew that she had passed away. Doreen Remembrance Here is a little website of remembrance of her.

Here is my o so technical drawing. :)

Here is the finished top waiting to be pinned with the batting and backing.

And here is the backing peeking over to the other side. I believe I am going to use the red print that has the yellow and green flowers on it for the binding. (is pictured in first picture)

Overall I am very happy with what I have done so far and hope my partner enjoys it as well! :) I plan on going simple line quilting, but have yet to choose a color of thread yet.

Here is my finished fall mini quilt. I hope my partner enjoys it when the fall comes around again. I will be mailing it off tomorrow, on the deadline day. I had hoped to get through it sooner but I am glad I am meeting the deadline.

Fall Mini Quilt Swap

I had mentioned earlier that I was quilting a quilt and thus many blunders ensued etc, all so far fixed, and i am almost done with it. Just the last but to quilt where I had to pull all the other stitches out and to do something in the borders then binding, then I can mail! And all last minute of course since it has to be out by the 15th. So I thought I would show the boo boos. This quilt btw is for the fall mini quilt swap from Quilting Bloggers.

This where I had started and everything was going badly, thread breaking etc. I was using a multicolored rayon. am glad I switched threads to see if that was the problem because while I did that I also switched to metallic needle (yes I should have thought of this sooner!) and I also switched to gold thread, which looks WAY BETTER!

As you can see way better with the gold!

DQS8

Although there was a bit of disappointment when I did DQS7, not on my partners behalf BTW let me assure you, love her quilt she made me, was totally awesome and perfect for me. More on the end of mine given, and I was not sure I wanted to participate again, but I do hope my quilt was loved and treasured regardless, so I look forward to at least pushing myself and hopefully my quilt this time will be loved and such etc etc. SO I am glad to say I am joining in for DQS8.

:)

sigh

Well today er yesterday I guess techinally was not the best start of days. I was to go into work at midnight and my husband informed me on his way to work I had a flat tire...so no work, which not that that is exactly sad but I had to use time and etc etc AND I have flat tire and that is the second one in like a 6 month time span here. WTH! So to get it fixed tomorrow, well a new tire anyway so I promised I would try not to be too upset about it and thought I would do the best to be very productive while at home so I made a roast, washed dishes, started laundry, baked some cookies, watched a bit of tv, read, THEN I thought I will sew some and quilt the quilt I need to get mailed by the 15th....................sigh and all goes to poo, I thought it was the thread, I was trying to stipple but it was breaking every two inches so it was not going well, I re-threaded I re did a bunch of stuff and thought fine I guess t is the thread so RAWR I will try a diff one and then go back and remove all those stitches later and quilt that area....so then when putting the new thread on the bobbin it went all UNDER IT, so I was like ok I should just step away...when I noticed that my feed dogs were not down..so had that been the problem or is it still the thread....at this point however I was like ugh JUST LEAVE THE ROOM. So I did. SO I thought I will eat what I made.... in the process I spilt soap all over the floor, broke the fork trying to eat...so I was like wow what is really going on....sigh so far, no other crazy occurrences but I am trying to touch little!

Sometimes

when I am at work I think of all the things I could be doing at home. All the things I could be getting done. THEN, when I am at home I do like 1/4 of those things! :S

Happy New Year!!!

Well I seem to blog less at home now and more at work lol. I think that is way backwards but oh well.

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and I hope this year is wonderful for all, overall!

I look forward to being more productive at home with my sewing and other doodles I like to do. Less stressed about my job and enjoy more. Learn to relax more... :S ! Wish me luck on that one! I also plan on being better to myself as far as being healthier mentally, emotionally and physically!

Be Blessed!!!
