Tiring Tusday and what all got done

Ugh is all I can say because I strained my back pretty good yesterday. I believe it was me basting that quilt on the floor after having already strained it at work with patients. :S SO yeh bad idea to try and baste on the floor. But the quilt is basted, lol. So what all did get done yesterday.

One
we had errands to run so I got to see Melissa and pick up the Avon I ordered and then after that we went and met with a mortgage broker. Which went well, missing a few pieces of paper but that will be taken care of tomorrow and then we should hopefully hear something within in a week. SO hopefully we will be house hunting for our FIRST home soon :) Very exciting.

Two
I got my fabric from Fabric.com. :) New yummies. Oh I also made Jes take me to storage to get some fabric but he only let me bring one bin, such a downer :P

Three
I got all the nine patches cut up into their smaller counterparts to start re-piecing for the disappearing nine patch.

Four
I got the bright buckeye beauty quilt basted. I normally baste a certain way but I was browsing and saw someones idea and thought I would give it a try. Now it is not that it did not work well, I just still prefer my way. I sadly do not remember where I was at but kudos to whom evers blog is was, there was still helpful advice in all I found and I know I bookmarked you.

And to mention it must be one of those days because I burnt my finger while cooking a bit ago :S!!! So now I am off to watch the new Friday the 13th.

Pictures to be posted next time around! :)

Mondays and what we are up to!

Oh work was rough last night, and I was so happy to get home this morning and take a shower and crash. But beyond that :) Here is what I am working on...

Disappearing Nine Patch

Here are the colors I am using, the bottom is a white with pink polka dots, kind of hard to see.

~Sewing the nine patches~

~Little pile to be ironed~

I just recently found this nine patch variation while surfing one day randomly. I really like the look of it. I found it at Ouilts and ATCS and decided to give it a go for a baby quilt. So far we just have the nine patches cut, strip pieced, cut again and sewn and I hope to get back to ironing them here in a bit. Will of course keep you updated.

I also however have a hard time doing just one thing at a time, and I also can not post all the things I am working on but I will share this. I found this purse pattern at Made By Rae and am going to give it a go in some fabrics I have left over, one is the black from the skirt I made for Kayla and the other is a black on grey toile fabric I have had for years! Heres a pic of the two, kinda blurry it looks but I think it is just because I have not ironed the toile yet.

SO that is it for Monday, although now it has rolled over in too Tuesday am :S :P

Back to Work...

Well I return to work tomorrow night for my normal 3 nights of 12's. I hope they go smoothly and we have plenty of coverage. We have had a light load of patients the past 3 weeks so I know now that will change. But all will be ok! :)

I did not get as much as I had hoped done the past few days, I had an appointment for a pelvic ultrasound (yes both kinds :S). Those went well though and the doctor has already called to let me know it all looks well. So we are going to try birth control for a few months to see if that will help with my irregular lady friend. SO it is good to know all is well in the lady land! We also had family up and did some house cleaning and yard work, along with all the nail painting, make up and hair doing I did! :)

But I did get a skirt done for Kayla and she is happy with it. There were a few things I did not like about it but that is always how it seems to go when you are the sewer! At least for me. SO here are a few snap shots. Mind the god hair, fan and doggie (baby) gate. :P

No she does not plan on wearing that shirt, I made her get out of her PJS to take the picture. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and stay safe!!!

Bright Scrap Quilt almost ready for quilting

I used left over fabrics from a triple set of Freddie's House quilts I made a few years back for my nieces for Christmas. The pattern is Buckeye Beauty, courtesy of Marcia Hohn. Here is a picture I took after the top was pieced and the final borders I chose.

Here we are after getting all the border on and using a few of the left over blocks I ended up with (so bad with calculations, I am). I will be using the same blue border fabric for binding, I feel that will make a nice finish. I am still however at this moment unsure how I feel about the finished top to this point. I am not sure I should not have gone with a more traditional border layout and I had some wonky blocks due to sleep deprivation and impatient during cutting, :P.

And now...

A new journey always I guess. That is a good thing though, right?

After discovering that the school I have been attending and paying a crazy amount for is not accredited, well they are but they are owned by those who accredit them, yeh fishy, and none of the credits will transfer to ANY other school, so with all that and more I have decided to not go back. I feel really good about this decision. I feel a fair bit frustrated about the $6300 I have already invested but that was a choice I made and have to live with, which will be ok. I just know that in the end $60000 will not be worth it. I already have been sewing for 11 years and have a lot of knowledge,I just have to motivate myself to get where I want to go without a shody degree I have paid way too much that no one respects. During the last 6 months I have been going I have learned little that I did not already know, excpet that one of the major instructors is very disorganised, gossips too much and sometimes very confused, :P. But so with that said. I am excited to have a little less stress on that end and more time to spend sewing and creating as opposed to doing homework.

I still have an internal struggle with the lack of having a bachlors in anything but as my mom said that must have been installed when I was younger from my dad, thinking I can not be a success without a degree. I logically know that is not the case. So I am trying to force that in my thick skull!

I just hope I can motivate myself enough :)

Monday Monday :)

Although it is 11 pm so almost to Tuesday :)

I had been dealing with a difficult person at work as of recent and still being the newest person makes it a tad bit difficult to filter through everyone's personalities etc. And since I am a hard person to get to know and normally the observer, my personality does not always show through, which in ways I think is good. But anyway rambling. So I was googling ways to difficult people and I particular likes this blurb on it. Sadly I do not remember where I found it so I apologize for not being able to cite that.

PRACTICE INDIFFERENCE AND EMOTIONAL DETACHMENT- LEARN HOW NOT TO LET A JERK TOUCH YOUR SOUL

Management gurus and executives are constantly ranting about the importance of commitment, passion and giving all you have to a job. That is good advice when your bosses and peers treat you with dignity. But if you work with people who treat you like dirt, they have not earned your passion and commitment.

PRACTICE GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS WITHOUT REALLY CARING.

DO NOT LET THEIR VICIOUS WORDS AND DEEDS TOUCH YOUR SOUL: LEARN TO BE COMFORTABLY NUMB UNTIL THE DAY COMES WHEN YOU FIND A WORKPLACE THAT DESERVES YOUR PASSION AND FULL COMMITMENT.

:)

Well I figured I would try and update since I invited some new friends to the space. However I have barely anything here but me yammering on :P what's new, eh? I wish I had more pics to post, I need to work on that. I have done a few projects for school I need to take pictures of but again have yet to do that, and I just finished a bag but eh I am not that happy with it, as much as I had hoped to be. And I started a bright scrappy quilt. So anyway, I shall try and get those done once my final is over tomorrow and have a break from school next week.

:)
