Holidays

I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday weekend. Mine has been OK. I have actually been working a lot, both my FT job and my PRN job, so I missed out on turkey, very sad, I love turkey!

However good news, last week was my annual trip to Kennesaw for the Sulky teacher Certification, this is the second year i have done it, and i loved it more this year than last, we had some great projects this year and i got 4 done, where last year I only finished 1, while there. It was awesome, bought some goodies and signed up for next year too! I cannot wait!

I hope to show pictures soon, I have many to upload from my camera from a few projects I have gotten done the past few months .

What I have been doing!

I  have not been blogging that is for sure, but I have been pretty busy!

I have joined the Roller Derby req league and am so loving it! I have been wanting to do this for a few years but was not brave enough to go by myself, well I DID now. I actually was to have a friend to go with but she backed out, but that is OK I put on my big girl panties and went by myself and have already met awesome people, burned lots of calories and had fun!

I also ran my first 5K this past Saturday, I am proud of myself for not only showing up but completing it! :) My hips hurt like crazy lol but that will pass!


Sadly though I have had some medical issues pop up, well not really they have been around for a few years BUT my new NP and I finally diagnosed me with PCOS (poly-cystic ovarian syndrome) , it is very common for woman and I am on a new med and hope it helps! :)

Christmas 2011

I thought I would share with you guys the gift I made my mom for Christmas last year, yes I know I am slow! But that is OK. this is my grandfather, picture taken in Bermuda when I was about errr 6 7 or 8 err younger lol. Anyhow, I love this picture and s my grandfather has been passed for some time, I knew my mom would love this. And she did!!

Coptic Class

My friend Sam and I took a Coptic stitch class with Katie Gonzalez from Linen Laid and Felt this July. Here is my first Coptic bound journal, I am very pleased with the way it came out! I have sewn one other for a refresher practice from less expansive supplies and have one waiting for the covers to have holes poked in them and one custom order for a wedding sign in book already :)

What I have been slowly working on for two weeks and what I hope to finish by July 1st!!!

I bought this planner pdf from Droplet.

 

And I made this from white lightweight chipboard and bookmaking tape. A bit hard to see the tape, but it is a bit brighter. I have the papers all cut and inked and ready to adhere that will hopefully be done tomorrow night and then I can work on putting it all together! :D

Super 8

I wanted to quickly share that I watched Super 8 last night. This was a movie on my to see list, and I was not disappointed! I think J.J. Abrams may be one of my new favorites directors, he did Start Trek as well which I LOVE! A great throw back to 70/80's movies, and it really does not disappoint like so many of the new movies that have come out for the big screen lately! I have decided that it is The Goonies meets ET!

Also I have lots of pictures on my camera I need to share but Is till have not downloaded them to the PC. SOON SOON, I hope!

I really want to sign up for this new class but I have not finished all the ones I have signed up for the last year or so...lol I am addicted to buying online courses omg!

Just back

from vacation! Sort of :) I went back to work today, I know Good Friday, I should have just taken it off to who goes back to work on a Friday, well me apparently!

And I had plans to blog on vacation to, since we actually did not go anywhere since we spent that money on the dentist and a new pc, which is OK with us.

We had a nice time at home caught up on some movies, played video games and had a nice anniversary , we went out with friends and played pool.

And I did not go to sleep thinking about work and I only checked my phone I think 3 times! Which is very impressive!

But alas, I did not blog, but I have a few pictures to upload and share with you, when I get them uploaded! :D And I have been keeping an eye on you guys! :D

I wish I was not working an extra 12 hour shift this evening at my PRN/old job but need the extra cash to catch up from the dentist emergency! AND my husband desktop died so of course he know has more need to use my laptop for his gaming, but it kind of works out, he is thrilled and has fallen in love with my laptop so it is now his lol and I bought a new desktop that will be here Monday, another chunk of money we were not expecting so soon, but it will be OK. I am excited to go back to using a desktop, having a larger monitor and dual monitoring soon! It will be exciting for all the new digital stuff I have delved into lately, I think. I am hoping the computer is top notch, as can be, I researched a brand I have never used before but it is American made so that thrills me and the price was very affordable for what you get.I will keep you guys apprised on that!

Anyway I have been very productive and I have some good motivation so I wish I would be at home to use it instead of behind bars, but I have plans to do some brainstorming for some new ideas and I have a fundraiser in May that I will be helping with and selling some things!

o surprises!

SO my week has been crazy, sort of, at least for my norm! Tuesday while chewing gum, my crown from a root canal I had way back when I was 14, popped off stuck to the gum, early in the morning at work, so I could not enjoy my lunch and had to do a telephone detective game to figure out who I had dental insurance with and what dentist they had auto assigned us because apparently I never picked one!

But I was successful and discovering who he was and he was able to fit me in after I got off work as long as I was there by 5pm, no problem that would be workable! SO going in I just figured OK he is fitting me he will probably ask me to come back later to fix this and fix that, since I know I had more issues than just that crown popping off. I DID NOT go in thinking he would replace the crown with the current crown (which is working so far but I have not had gum, I miss gum!) and give me two fillings in one molar and a root canal in another! NEEDLESS to say I was surprised as was my bank account and my freaking jaw hurt :S

And I still have to go back next Wednesday fr the rest of the root canal, and pay the rest of the bill, lol. (sigh) But I was able to enjoy my lunch the rest of the week!

Hopefully it worked! I used to get A LOT of spammers and a not nice person from my past commenting and that is why I put that up there, hopefully that will not happen again.

SO I do know it is the last week of February and March is here already at the end of the week and so I wanted to make sure I had something awesome to share with you before then!

I joined (of course another online class) Art Journal Caravan 2012 !

And what makes this one really different for ME, is it is digital (hybrid too which I love) I bought Photoshop Elements off Amazon last week after joining. I have been wanting to buy Photoshop Elements but needed a reason, haha and I found this and well two and two makes more for me to do!

AND although I am fairly good with online, pc, software stuff etc and have some MAC experience from back in my college days, which now seems like FOREVER AGO! Anyhow, all that and still I am a way newb for PSE. Which is OK, I am excited to learn it, I just have to remember patient with myself!


SO without further ado, my first digital art journal page and first lesson of the Caravan, a letter/reminder to yourself.


Also on a side note, I have been having some unhappy issues with my laptop and hoping she holds on for the remainder of they ear :S I fear my graphics card is going out, my fan has already gone out and I need to buy another on to put it, I am using a laptop cooler stand for now and it works OK but it still really needs that darn fan in there! :S Which also could be causing my graphics to be haywire when it gets too hot (sigh)!

deleted my boards on pinterest, I will still look and like but no longer pin.

I do have some projects to share of my own but need to upload the pictures from my camera soon, stayed tuned hopefully I will have something pretty up by the end of the week!

~As Promised~

If you know me well, than you know I so dislike Walmart! But I needed a yoga mat and groceries and I was indeed too lazy to go to more than one place so bleh, I went to Walmart, sigh. It is like a black hole, you get lost in there, go in when it is light outside and come out HOURS later and it is dark. It is also a black hole for your money! (bigger sigh) But I got my yoga mat and groceries! I will be very thankful for the yoga mat because push ups and crunches on hardwood floor, so not fun!

Back to work tomorrow though, the office was closed today for the holiday. It was very nice to have a three day weekend. And a four day work week will be nice as well. I have not even peeped at my work blackberry so I hope I do not have all kinds of craziness to deal with when I get back.

And here as promised is what I have so far for the e-course Color As A Verb. I have completed the journal she shows you how to make. I thought about doing it differently but wanted to be genuine to the class so I did make it following her directions with one minor difference, I like to start my thread on the outside not inside.

Here are the signatures which are cut from Bristol Smooth paper, this will be the first time I have used this paper.

She makes the journal out of a composition notebook, so I recycled one that had writing exercises in it originally.

Pretty scrapbook paper to cover the insides.

Plain but pretty scrapbook paper for the back inside. :D

And she has you make a copic marker swatch book. I used the left over Bristol Papers where I made the signatures. I also used the leftover pretty scrapbook paper. I did not think I would get it done ever because I have 80 something markers. But it really went faster than I thought. And glad I did it, it is a great color reference.

TADA, and hopefully soon I will have some pretty stuff on the inside! :D

I definitely feel accomplished not only in the sewing room but in the art room too. Tomorrow, I will share how far I have gotten with the e-course I signed up for, Color as a Verb. And I exercised! So good start for the new year, just need to keep keeping on!!

My first attempt at using digital backgrounds to upload and such and be more creative here on the blog, not too bad but I know the font is not great :S Sorry about hurting your eyes! I cannot figure out how to make the letters filled and not outlined, yet!
